The desire to tell and hear stories is essential for the species known as Homo sapiens.
Since there are hardly any people who live in silence, people seek out and consume plausible stories like water in the desert.
Silence quickly leads to narratives, and small stories of a sort of separate "once upon a time" world emerge, existing nowhere in the uncertain times of the past.
Since these small stories are not intended to be understood as facts, they are filled with somewhat flat characters, resulting in little emotional reaction.
Stories about supernatural beings and events presumed to have actually occurred at a specific time and place become the sounds of fantasy myths and legends.
Connecting the dots is an innate human trait, so in ambiguous situations, an explanatory narrative is adopted to take the form of a story.
Humans, rooted in narrative, form the world with stories that have plots based on their experiences and memories.
We dream and imagine, remember and predict, hope and despair, believe and doubt, hate and fall in love through stories.
